India 99-1 Nigeria, Everything you should know about the match

When growing up as a Nigerian, you must have heard someone telling you about the legendary Nigeria vs India match which ended 99-1.
It was passed down from our fathers and there are different versions of the story. One big reason why it is still called a legendary match is the definition of the word "Legendary". A legend is a story, or happening that consists of narratives which includes human actions perceived and believed by the teller and the listener and taken place within human history.
Legend also has it that a match which took place between Nigeria and India ended with a funny and crazy scoreboard of 99- 1 in favour of India. It was also said that the Indians used Juju (Voodoo) to win the football match. It was also told that the Indian national team won with a very large margin in shot on attempts, and the Nigerian keeper couldn't save any due of the voodo used against them.
There were also things stated and perceived to have happened in the football match.

1. Invisible Players
It was told that the Nigerian National team couldn't even see the India team players when the match started, but could see the football moving which looks like someone was playing it. The football was visible to the Nigerian team and the spectators But India players were not seen by the Nigeria team, but seen by the spectators who came to watch the match. They couldn't tackle or figure out the intention of the players as they were not seen.
2. Multiple Balls.
It was said that the Indians used a powerful trick on the Nigerian goalkeeper. For example, if a shot is being played at the Nigerian goalkeeper, the call tends to multiply into multiple balls, and the goalkeeper won't know which ball to save and would unfortunately go for the wrong ball and recorded as a goal.
3. Ball Transformation
This is the most crazy of all. The India team used their 'juju' and turned the call into a burning fire anytime a shot is being played at the Nigerian goal keeper. Whenever a shot is being played at the Nigerian goal keeper, the keeper sees a flame of fire coming towards him and then runs away from the ball. Sometimes the ball is being turned into a fiery lion. Haha, you can't see a lion coming towards you and then wait. You need to run for your life. That was the exact thing the Nigerian goal keeper did. After the keeper runs away from the post, the ball is being scored.
Conclusion.
There is no video or clip for the legendary but funny match played as it was told that India was expelled from the International football for this reason, and video tape deleted.
As a Nigerian, no matter what state you are from, or where you live, your uncle, father, mother, friend, neighbour would have told you the legendary story of Nigeria vs India football match. It's so weird, as most people have heard about it, or remember it even if we know they match never existed.
So many sides of this crazy story were told which depends on who told you. You might have wondered how Nigeria got just one goal, as it was told that Teslim Balogun also known as 'thunder' scored Nigeria's only goal. Some even said it was Samuel Okwaraji scored the consolation goal.
The crazy part about what happened to the person who scored the goal is that, it was told the player who scored the only goal died after kicking the ball. It was also said that the ball turned into a stone which killed the player who scored out of patriotism.
Funny isn't it?
As funny as this story seems, it is still passed till date.
Well, I'm telling my kids too about the story to keep the tradition.

Edo Museum of West African Art

The Benin Kingdom is known for its arts, many of which are scattered in museums around the world. The Edo State government’s decision to establish the museum of West African art will further the state’s image, writes Robert Egbe   On Friday, November 13, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki announced a post-COVID-19 recovery plan to strengthen the public sector. But perhaps the most interesting component of his proposal was the announcement of a new partnership that seeks to return Edo State to its competitive advantage many centuries ago, and establish the Edo Museum of West African Art (EMOWAA). It is a fact that the Benin kingdom was one of the most powerful and creative kingdoms in Africa, with its art and craftmanship so globally acknowledged and renowned that European explorers marvelled at the level of sophistication of the art and culture emanating from this kingdom. Very few would argue with the fact that at some point in its history, this great kingdom was regarded as th...

Our Reporter Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, yesterday said Boko Haram fighters lure recruits with as low as N5,000. According to him: “From day one, we were faced with an acute humanitarian crisis, particularly in northern and some parts of the central senatorial zones. As such, we made it a policy that as governor, I assume the role of chief humanitarian officer for different reasons. “On one hand, it was our duty to deliver help to our fellow citizens that were either internally displaced or taking refuge in neighbouring countries. “On the other hand, there was ...
