By Zainab Olufemi and Halimah Balogun

Family members and well-wishers of late Pastor Ibidunni Ituah-Ighodalo on Monday marked the first memorial anniversary of the late pastor, who died on June 14, 2020, with a service at the Trinity House in Lagos.

At the event, dignitaries paid tributes to the sterling virtues of the late pastor.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described her as a notable person, who had the heart of helping others in any way she possibly. He added that the pastor ensured she made an impact on the people in the society.

Sanwo-Olu added that she was a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to serving people selflessly. The governor called on the families of the deceased to take heart and continue to move her legacy forward.

The widower, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, noted that it has been tough for him since his wife passed on, adding that God has been gracious to him as he was able to handle the pain well.

He said: “It’s like flying with one wing, walking with one leg, eating with one side of the mouth and hearing with one ear. But I’m grateful to my wife; she did a wonderful job. She left me with two wonderful children, packaged the whole house and sorted things out. She had looked far ahead and she made sure she left me with peace, but it has not been easy.”

A brother to the deceased, Mr. Dare Ajayi, described her life as well-ended for making an impact in the world.

“We thank God for keeping us this far, for Ibidunni, for directing our path in life and in death. We are consoled by the goodwill she left behind. I thank Ibidun for being an amazing sister for she shone her light so bright on the world,” he said.

The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Babafemi Hamzat; Ogun State governor’s wife Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun; former Ondo State governor’s wife Mrs. Funke Agagu and others attended the event.

In his sermon, Senior Minister Dipo Ajumale urged those in power to ensure they make life better for the people with the authority vested in them and make the world a better place to live.

“Death is certain and we must all prepare for it. When Mrs. Ibidunni passed away, we all died a little and we know we can never be the same again. We thank God for this happy memory. Her contribution to evangelism is unparalleled. You should always strive to make yourself relevant wherever you may be. No one misses the dishonest. Whether you like it or not ,you’re going to pass on; it is inevitable,” he advised.
